The outgoing State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, has warned against using children in social media content without their consent.The warning follows concerns raised by Mukono Municipality MP Betty Namboze Bakireke and children’s rights advocates over videos showing minors being humiliated online.Barugahara described the practice as unacceptable and urged individuals, including those linked to “Chicken Chicken” and “Chuni,” to stop immediately.He said such actions may violate laws like the Children Act and the Data Protection and Privacy Act, warning that offenders risk fines or imprisonment.He called on the public to protect children’s rights and dignity, emphasizing that exploitation of minors for content will not be tolerated.
