UPDF Calls for Inclusive, Tech-Driven Peacekeeping as Women’s Training Course ClosesThe Director of Women Affairs in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Brig Gen Charity Bainababo, has called for inclusive and technology-driven peacekeeping operations, stressing that well-trained and empowered women, alongside modern operational skills, are vital for the effective implementation of United Nations mandates across diverse mission environments. Brig Gen Bainababo made the remarks while officiating at the closing ceremony of the Women’s Outreach Course (16th Edition) and the Micro Unmanned Aircraft Systems (M-UAS) Training, which included the 11th Edition of the Remote Pilot Course and the 9th Edition Training of Trainers Course, held at the United Nations Regional Service Centre in Entebbe. The programme was developed in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2122 (2013). The Women’s Outreach Course offers specialised training for women serving as military or police information and communication technology specialists, and also prepares military staff officers for deployment in UN peacekeeping missions. The courses, conducted from May 11 to May 22, 2026, brought together participants from various member states with the aim of strengthening peacekeeping operations, promoting women’s empowerment, and enhancing modern technological skills in mission environments.
