A growing number of mobile users continue to express frustration over the rapid depletion of internet data bundles, raising concerns over value for money and how quickly modern data seems to disappear. You buy a 5GB bundle that is meant to expire in four days, but as you are buying it you get to have a second thought: should I, will it last the four days really, or should I go for the daily bundle as Kitaka said? But you have to go with the 5GB one because the Kitaka bundle might fail you out. Then you buy it, but every time you are in the app refreshing, looking at that spinning ball, awaiting to see the change. At first, the change can fail to show, but when the usage goes on, you get to start thinking. When you check again—boom—1GB off. You get a pen and a paper and start thinking about what you really have done for the GB to vanish off. Ohh, you get to remember like, “yeah, I did a WhatsApp call… and the others,” but then you start saying that nah, this can’t fit in the 1GB. And of course, you start to limit yourself, but however much you do, “ekyambe tokiwona.” Streaks, mostly those of TikTok, start to vanish away because the moment you make a mistake and open the app, you are on a probability of seeing a “you have already…” message. You know what comes next. Data saver settings on the phone also can’t fight for their boss. And the funny part is, even when everything is controlled—background data off, updates paused, auto-play disabled—you still find yourself asking the same question: “So where exactly did it go?” because the math just refuses to add up in your head. “But all in all, telecommunication companies should reduce ‘obusungu bungi banange.’ Let’s bring back the other days where you used to browse on your phone on just simple MBs.” Discover more from 303 News Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email.
