Nyombi Thembo Executive Director UCC | File

The Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Nyombi Thembo, says the Commission has taken note of the circumstances that led to Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda outlets going off air.

In a post shared on X, Nyombi said the Commission had begun consultations with relevant government stakeholders to obtain verified information regarding the developments affecting NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, and KFM.

He urged members of the public to remain calm as the consultations continue.

“The Commission urges the public to remain calm and allow these consultations to proceed,” Nyombi posted.

He added that further updates would be provided as appropriate once the consultations are concluded.

The remarks come after several Nation Media Group Uganda outlets were taken off air in the early hours of Sunday following reports of a security deployment at the broadcaster’s premises and transmission facilities.
