Police have arrested two suspects linked to the break-in at the Bank of Uganda that occurred on May 4, 2026.Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke identified the suspects as Boaz Michael, 19, a resident of Wabigalo, and Kabuye Ramadhan, also known as Rhama, a resident of Nsambya Zone C, both in Kampala.He said investigators recovered two laptops out of the eight that were reported stolen.“The suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned before court in due course,” Kituuma said.Last Monday, Kenneth Egesa confirmed that unlawful entry had been detected at the BoU head office premises on Plot 45, Kampala Road, in the shorter tower near City Square, located between Church House on Kampala Road and the East African Development Bank Tower on Shimoni Road.The incident happened overnight, during which eight laptop computers were stolen.“The matter is currently under investigation, and the BoU is working closely with relevant security agencies to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and take appropriate action,” the BoU statement said.The central bank assured the public that its core operations and services remain fully functional and were not disrupted by the incident.
