Police have confirmed the recovery of all six laptop computers stolen from the Bank of Uganda and the arrest of four suspects linked to the theft. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the laptops were stolen during a break-in at the central bank’s offices along Kampala Road on the night of May 3, 2026. After earlier recovering two laptops and arresting two suspects, investigators continued with operations that led to more arrests and the recovery of the remaining four laptops. “The additional arrests also led to the recovery of four more laptop computers. All six stolen laptops have now been recovered and are being held as exhibits,” Owoyesigyire said. The suspects have been identified as Kule Boaz Micheal, Kabuya Ramathan alias Rama, Lubangakene Isaac Izoo, and Oedo Jorem Jude. Police also confirmed that the four suspects are expected to be arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court today, May 20, 2026, in connection with the theft. Owoyesigyire said the suspects are likely to face charges including office breaking, theft, receiving stolen property, and retaining stolen property. He added that investigations into the matter are still ongoing, stressing that police remain committed to ensuring that everyone involved is brought to justice.
