FC Barcelona turned El Clasico into a title celebration on Sunday, beating Real Madrid 2-0 at a packed Camp Nou to secure their 29th LaLiga title.

Hansi Flick’s side moved to an unbeatable 91 points, 14 ahead of second-placed Real Madrid with three matches left to play. The victory capped an impressive campaign in which Barcelona lost only four league games. Villarreal CF sit third on 69 points.

Real Madrid arrived needing a win to keep their slim title hopes alive, but Marcus Rashford ended those hopes just nine minutes into the match. Antonio Rudiger fouled Ferran Torres just outside the box, and Rashford curled a brilliant free kick into the top-left corner past Thibaut Courtois to give Barcelona an early lead and ignite the home crowd.

Nine minutes later, Barcelona doubled their advantage. Fermin Lopez delivered a cross into the area and Dani Olmo produced a clever backheel that found Torres, who fired a powerful shot into the top corner.

The victory secured back-to-back league titles for Flick, who also guided Barcelona to a LaLiga and Copa del Rey double in his debut season last year.

Both teams were missing several key players. Barcelona started without Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Jules Kounde. Real Madrid’s injury list was even longer, with Eder Militao, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, Arda Guler and Rodrygo all unavailable. Federico Valverde also missed the game after suffering a head injury during a midweek dressing-room altercation with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni, with both players fined 500,000 euros following the incident.

Kylian Mbappe did not travel due to a leg muscle injury, forcing manager Alvaro Arbeloa to start Vinicius Junior alongside academy striker Gonzalo, while Jude Bellingham and Brahim Diaz supported the attack.

Real Madrid threatened through Vinicius and Gonzalo before halftime, but Barcelona remained the more dangerous side. Courtois made several important saves to deny Torres and Rashford before the break.

Barcelona continued to dominate after halftime, with Rashford repeatedly troubling left back Fran Garcia down the right flank. Courtois again kept Real Madrid in the game with a sharp save to stop Torres from close range in the 56th minute.

Bellingham had a goal disallowed for offside in the 62nd minute, while Joan Garcia reacted quickly to stop Vinicius in a one-on-one situation.

Real Madrid continued to push late in the match, but lacked a cutting edge in attack as Barcelona comfortably held on before beginning their title celebrations.

“This title is even more special because we won it at home against Real Madrid. Now it’s time to celebrate with the fans,” Frenkie de Jong told Spanish broadcaster Movistar Plus.

“Every title deserves to be celebrated properly, especially LaLiga because it’s a competition played over an entire season. We’ve clearly been the best team in Spain.”
