Apple 256 has dismissed claims that she relies on prerecorded mixes during her performances, insisting that she genuinely mixes live at her gigs.

Born Apple Nakate, the Ugandan DJ says her interest in deejaying developed over the past three years after watching various DJs perform at events and entertainment spots across the country.

She explains that her manager later encouraged her to fully pursue the career—something she was already passionate about—with Swazi DJ and record producer Uncle Waffles being one of her biggest inspirations.

Apple 256 also says her passion enabled her to learn the craft in just three weeks.

Despite ongoing criticism about her rapid rise in the industry, she remains determined to establish herself as one of the new faces in Uganda’s growing DJ scene.
