It is a lively event in Mukono District, where hundreds of newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) are attending a thanksgiving ceremony for Defence and Veteran Affairs Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth. The Budama Central West MP, on Friday, was endorsed by the First Son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) preferred candidate for Speakership of the 12th Parliament. The PLU Secretary General Daudi Kabanda announced that the civil political group, which has MPs aligned to it, has withdrawn its support from Anita Among and her deputy Thomas Tayebwa for another term as Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
