Man Killed in Rubirizi After Dispute Over Donated MeatPolice in Rubirizi District are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 50-year-old man following a quarrel over meat donated by Dunyaruguru Constituency MP Benjamin Cadet.

The deceased, identified as Joachim Tumwebaze, a resident of Mubanda D Village in Ryeru Sub-county, was attacked on Thursday at about 9pm after a disagreement broke out over the sharing of the donated meat.

According to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity, Tumwebaze and several other residents had gathered to receive portions of the meat, which had reportedly been delivered to the area by one of the legislator’s aides.

The witness said tensions escalated when Tumwebaze got into a heated argument with a man believed to be in his twenties. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly used a slaughtering tool to stab Tumwebaze.

Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa confirmed the incident on Friday, saying the victim was rushed to Rubirizi Medical Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival due to excessive bleeding.

Police said the suspect escaped after the attack, and security teams have launched a search for him.

“As investigations continue, we call upon anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station to help with the arrest,” SP Tayebwa said.
