Katikkiro Mayiga has urged Ugandan entertainers to remain humble despite fame and success, warning that pride can lead to downfall while praising their role in promoting mental well-being through comedy and drama.

The Katikkiro has advised Ugandan entertainers to remain humble despite fame, wealth, and public admiration, warning that pride can undermine long-term success.

Mayiga made the remarks while meeting comedy duo Maulana and Reign during a courtesy visit at Bulange, where they discussed the development of the entertainment industry.

He noted that when people gain money, power, and fame, their true character is revealed by whether they remain humble, stressing that arrogance often leads to failure and loss of direction. He cautioned that many talented individuals struggle with managing fame and pride, reminding them that “pride comes before a fall.”

The Katikkiro also commended entertainers for their role in society, saying comedy and drama help relieve stress and improve mental health by offering people relief from life’s pressures such as anxiety and depression.

He encouraged both performers and audiences to embrace rest and relaxation, comparing it to servicing a vehicle to keep it functioning well.

The comedians thanked the Katikkiro for the guidance, saying such engagements with leaders support their growth and professional development.

Buganda Kingdom Minister for Youth, Sports and Talent Robert Serwanga Ssalongo also urged entertainers to maintain discipline, creativity, and professionalism, noting that comedy and drama have gained respect due to pioneers who treated the arts seriously.

The visit was attended by several entertainers, including Nina Rose and other figures from the entertainment industry.
