Police have arrested two additional suspects in connection with the death of professional rugby player Sydney Gongodyo following an incident that occurred on 5 June 2026. The suspects have been identified as Mugwiisa Obed and Owino Joseph, a security guard. Investigators say Mugwiisa Obed was captured on video wearing a yellow T-shirt and carrying a large log during the incident. During interrogation, he allegedly led investigators to a local laundry (dobbi) where he had taken the yellow T-shirt he was seen wearing on the day of the attack. The item of clothing was later recovered and has been added to the ongoing evidence in the case. Their arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody to ten as investigations into the alleged mob killing continue. Authorities say efforts are still ongoing to identify, trace, and apprehend other individuals believed to have taken part in the incident. Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring all those responsible are held accountable and brought to justice in accordance with the law, adding that further updates will be released as the investigation progresses.
