Security forces on Saturday carried out a heavy deployment and conducted a thorough search at the Nakasero residence of Bukedea District Woman MP Anita Annet Among. The unexpected operation comes just days after the high-profile legislator and Speaker of the 11th Parliament was reportedly instructed by top ruling party organs to withdraw from contesting for the Speakership of the newly sworn-in 12th Parliament. Armed police officers, led by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and supported by plainclothes intelligence personnel, cordoned off entry and exit points leading to the upscale Nakasero residence, restricting access to the premises.
