In an ongoing high-profile investigation, Uganda Police on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, recovered an additional fleet of luxury vehicles from the Nakasero residence of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.

The operation, carried out by a joint task force comprising the Police Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and state anti-corruption agencies, began at dawn. Sources close to the investigation say at least four high-end vehicles, including a bulletproof SUV and a custom sports car, were towed from the premises under heavy security.

A Mercedes-Benz bearing the personalised number plate AAA and a Lexus registration number UBP 704Y were also impounded by police, bringing the total number of luxury vehicles seized so far to six.

The latest raid follows a series of asset seizures linked to the embattled former legislative leader.

Among has been under intense scrutiny over allegations of illicit enrichment, abuse of office, and financial mismanagement during her tenure, with authorities continuing to trace assets suspected to have been acquired using public funds.

Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma confirmed the morning operation, saying the seizures are part of broader efforts to recover suspected proceeds of crime.

“We are executing lawful warrants to secure properties relevant to our ongoing financial audits,” Rusoke told reporters outside the Nakasero residence. “The law will take its course without fear or favour.”

The atmosphere around Nakasero remained tense throughout the day, with police maintaining a heavy security cordon around the property.

Representatives of Anita Among have strongly denied any wrongdoing, previously describing the investigations as a politically motivated witch-hunt intended to damage her legacy.

As public interest in the case grows, legal analysts say the recovery of the vehicles could indicate that prosecutors are finalising a strong case.

With more properties across Kampala reportedly under surveillance, further developments are expected in what is rapidly becoming one of Uganda’s most significant anti-corruption investigations.
