After ending their 22-year wait for a Premier League crown, Arsenal will now enjoy the rewards and recognition that come with becoming champions of England. Premier League Trophy The biggest reward is, of course, the famous Premier League Trophy. The trophy will be decorated with Arsenal’s red and white ribbons and handed to the team at Selhurst Park after their final league match against Crystal Palace on Sunday. The trophy measures 3ft 5in (104cm) tall and 2ft (61cm) wide, weighing 25.4kg in total. Its base, where the names of champions are engraved, accounts for 15.9kg of that weight. The trophy’s design represents “The Three Lions of English Football.” Two lions appear on the handles, while the captain lifting the trophy and crown above his head symbolically becomes the third lion.Interestingly, the Premier League keeps two identical trophies. One remains with the reigning champions during the season, while the league uses the second for official duties. Champions must return the trophy at least three weeks before their final match of the following campaign. Premier League Winners’ Medals Alongside the trophy, Arsenal will also receive Premier League winners’ medals.Under Premier League rules, the club is awarded 40 silver commemorative medals measuring 5.7cm in diameter. These are distributed among the manager, players, and club officials.Any player who has appeared in at least five league matches during the season is guaranteed a medal. If more than 39 eligible players meet that requirement, the club can request additional medals from the Premier League Board. Several Arsenal players comfortably passed the appearance requirement this season, including David Raya, Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, and Viktor Gyokeres. Youngster Max Dowman also qualifies after making five appearances. Financial Rewards Unlike tournaments such as Wimbledon or The Masters, the Premier League does not hand out a separate prize cheque specifically for winning the title.Instead, clubs receive “merit payments” based on where they finish in the table. The champions receive the highest share, calculated on a sliding scale from first to 20th place. Last season, each league position was worth around £2.6 million extra. Champions Liverpool earned about £53.1 million, while the bottom club received £2.6 million. Winning the title can also bring major commercial advantages through sponsorship bonuses, improved negotiation power for future deals, and increased global exposure. However, clubs often pay significant bonuses to players and staff after such success. FA Community Shield Qualification As Premier League champions, Arsenal also qualify for the FA Community Shield — the traditional curtain-raiser to the new English football season. The Gunners will face Manchester City in this year’s Community Shield on 16 August in Cardiff. Golden Champions Badge Another special privilege for the champions is the right to wear the Premier League’s gold champions badge on their shirt sleeves during the following season. Introduced in 2015/16, the badge is worn only by the defending champions. This will be Arsenal’s first opportunity to wear the golden emblem since the tradition began.
