Veteran Ugandan dancehall musician David Sifaayo, popularly known as Master Parrot, has died following a tragic road accident along the Kampala Northern Bypass on Monday evening.

According to eyewitnesses and preliminary police reports, the fatal incident occurred in the busy Masanafu area on June 1, 2026. The singer, best known for his hit song Muliro, was reportedly knocked by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the highway.

Master Parrot sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene before he could be rushed to a medical facility. His body was later transported to Mulago City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Master Parrot rose to fame in the early and mid-2000s, a period often regarded as the golden era of Uganda’s contemporary dancehall and Afro-pop music. He became a household name with his breakout hit Muliro, an energetic song that dominated radio stations, nightclubs, and public events across the country.

He later released other popular tracks, including Ekikompola, further cementing his place among Uganda’s most recognizable musicians of that era. Alongside several of his contemporaries, Master Parrot played a significant role in shaping the foundation of modern Ugandan pop music.

His passing marks the loss of one of Uganda’s pioneering dancehall artists, whose music left a lasting impact on the country’s entertainment industry.
