Liverpool have appointed Andoni Iraola as their new head coach following the dismissal of Arne Slot

The club confirmed Slot’s departure on Saturday, just one year after he led Liverpool to the Premier League title.

Iraola, 43, arrives from Bournemouth after guiding them to their best-ever Premier League finish, securing sixth place. The achievement left them just one position and three points behind Liverpool, and earned Bournemouth qualification for next season’s Europa League.

The Spanish coach had already announced in April that he would leave Bournemouth this summer and had been linked with moves to and .

Liverpool, who finished the Premier League season with 60 points, their lowest tally since 2015/16 still secured Champions League qualification despite ending 25 points behind champions Arsenal.

Iraola is expected to bring his Bournemouth assistants, Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper , with him to Anfield as part of his backroom staff.
