Ibrahima Konate is expected to leave Liverpool after five years at Anfield.

The 27-year-old had been in negotiations with the club over a contract extension, but the two sides failed to reach an agreement, with Konate now set to depart on a free transfer.

The French international has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe since the start of the year, although he is yet to make a decision on his next destination.

Since joining from RB Leipzig, Konate has made 183 appearances for Liverpool, helping the club win one Premier League title, one FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.Liverpool are also looking at strengthening both midfield and defence this summer.

A new No. 6 is considered a priority to provide competition and cover for Ryan Gravenberch, with the club expected to explore options in that position.

Jeremy Jacquet is also set to arrive from Rennes this summer in a £60m move just before his 21st birthday, making him Liverpool’s second-most expensive defensive signing. However, the defender missed the final part of the season with a shoulder injury.

Liverpool will also welcome back Geovanni Leoni following recovery from an ACL injury.

Virgil van Dijk remains at the club, while Joe Gomez has one year left on his contract, meaning there could still be changes in Liverpool’s centre-back department.

At left-back, cover may also be required with Andy Robertson expected to leave, although Kostas Tsimikas is set to return from his loan spell.
