Police Arrest 28 Over Human Trafficking and Online Pornography in Kira

Police in Kira Division, Wakiso District, are holding 28 suspects over allegations of human trafficking and promoting pornography following an intelligence-led operation in Mbalwa Buyinja Zone, Kyaliwajala, Namugugongo Division in Kira Municipality.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Nakiwala, the operation was carried out at around 8pm on Monday after reports of suspicious activities inside a residential house.

Police reportedly found a group of 27 young women aged between 17 and 26 years and one male suspect operating from three rooms within the enclosed residence. Officers also recovered laptops, cameras, and about 10 adult-related devices believed to have been used in producing online adult content.

The items were taken to Kira Division Police Station as investigations continue, while all suspects are assisting authorities with statements.
Preliminary findings indicate the group may have been involved in commercial online adult content activities, according to police.

In separate operations across the Kampala Metropolitan area, police also arrested 40 suspects linked to motorcycle-based phone snatching and other gang-related activities. Several electronic devices, including iPhones, Tecno phones, a Samsung handset, and a laptop, were recovered during the swoops.

Police intercepted two suspects along Mawanda Road, who reportedly abandoned a bag containing suspected stolen items before fleeing on a motorcycle.

Further operations conducted in Entebbe and Mukono led to the arrest of additional suspects. In Entebbe, 31 individuals were detained in areas including Bendegere, Kasenyi, and Nakiwogo over alleged possession of narcotic substances and other exhibits.

In Mukono’s Goma Division, seven suspects were arrested during coordinated raids in known criminal hotspots such as Jojo, Sonde, and Misindye.

Authorities say the operations are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security across the greater Kampala Metropolitan area.
