Paris Saint-Germain retained their UEFA Champions League title after defeating Arsenal 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in a tense final at the Puskás Arena on Saturday.

Arsenal made the perfect start when Kai Havertz fired them ahead in the sixth minute, beating PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov with a powerful rising shot.

PSG struggled to break down Arsenal’s resolute defence but found an equaliser in the 65th minute when Ousmane Dembélé converted a penalty after Cristhian Mosquera fouled Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Neither side could find a winner during extra time, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. Arsenal’s Gabriel blasted his spot kick over the crossbar, allowing PSG to secure a 4-3 victory on penalties.

The French champions held their nerve from the spot to become only the second club in the Champions League era to successfully defend the trophy.
