Arsenal and Manchester City could still finish the season level on points if Arsenal draw one of their remaining matches while both title rivals win all their other games. In that situation, Rule C.17 of the Premier League Handbook states that final league positions would be decided using the following criteria, in order

Goal difference

Goals scored

Points won in head-to-head matches

Away goals scored in head-to-head matches

A playoff match

The goal difference between the two sides is currently extremely tight. Arsenal have scored 67 goals and conceded 26, giving them a goal difference of +41, while Manchester City sit on +39. The race could even be settled by total goals scored, with City currently on 71 and Arsenal on 67.If both teams end level on points, goal difference and goals scored, Manchester City would win the title based on the next tiebreaker — points gained in head-to-head meetings — after taking four points from Arsenal this season through a win and a draw.Should it go that far, it would become the closest Premier League title race in history. The previous closest finish came in the 2011/12 season, when Manchester City famously beat Manchester United to the title on goal difference after Sergio Agüero scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner against Queens Park Rangers on the final day.
